2026 Trail challenge buckle series
Townsend Harmony Ranch LLC of Scio, Oregon is excited to return for its third year for our 6-part Trail Challenge Buckle Series. This series will be held over 3 weekends. A clinic will proceed each weekend of shows. Clinics will have limited availability, but a wait list system will be in place and auditing is available at $30/day or $50/2 days. You do not have to be in a clinic to be eligible to show.
in 2026 we will be offering twelve classesThere will be twelve classes offered at the shows with limited entries per each day of the show. Each class will cost $50 without any hidden fees.

Class Categories for every horse & Rider
Definitions of each class categories: (you are welcome to ride up for cross entries):
Beginner: This includes new horses and/or new riders to Mountain Trail. The horse and rider combination cannot have won more than 3 firsts in trail related events/classes, and/or cannot have competed in Mountain Trail events for more than 3 years. Professionals and their spouses are not eligible for this category. The buckle series will be the accumulation of points in the following three classes: In hand, Mountain Trail Ridden, and Ranch Trail.
Intermediate: Most competitors will fall into this category. Rider or horse who has received more than 3 firsts in trail related events/classes and/or have competed in Mountain Trail for 3+ years. Exclusions: Trainers, clinicians, judges (pros). Spouses of professionals can compete in the intermediate classes if qualified. The buckle series will be the accumulation of points in the following three classes: In hand, Mountain Trail Ridden, and Ranch Trail.
Advanced: Rider/horse combination who have had many life and show experiences. They are looking for a challenge or to improve their relationships. This category will include these advanced riders and professionals (trainers, clinicians and judges etc…). The buckle series will be the accumulation of points in the following three classes: In hand, Mountain Trail Ridden, and Ranch Trail.
Harmony: This will be a fourth buckle and will be the rider/horse combination with the highest points in the series for harmony and soft feel. The horse/rider combination must also participate in the following three classes: In hand, Mountain Trail Ridden, and Ranch Trail.
Green Horse: Any horse that is 4 years old or younger. Or Mustangs over 4 years that have been in captivity for less than 6 months. These horses can cross enter into appropriate qualifying classes. Daily awards only are available for these classes.
Green Rider: This includes riders that have never ridden in ANY trail related shows/classes prior to 2026 (including but not limited to mountain trail, ETS, competitive trail, ranch trail classes). This rider can cross enter in the beginner classes. Daily awards only are available for these classes.
